MEDIA COVERAGE

The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc is a sporting event that receives widespread media coverage (television, written press, radio, Internet).

International media coverage

Media outlets around the world, such as TF1, France 2, France 3, M6, 2M Morocco, VSD, Chérie FM, Hit Radio, CBS, ESPN, TVA propulsion and the Huffington post, report on the exploits and experiences of the women taking part in the event.

Close to 100 journalists attend the Rallye. A number of resources are provided at the Rallye to enable them to relay the event: media vehicles, media room, video editing studio, media information centre, daily image bank (video and photo).

The organisation provides daily press releases, photos and video footage, interviews live from the bivouac, and live tracking of teams on the Rallye’s website. In the interest of quality, performance and service, all image production for the Rallye is managed by Maïenga, whose role is therefore that of producer as well as event organiser.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

A production manager, editor-in-chief, head operators and film editors ensure the production of daily footage that is sent via satellite to media around the world (USA, Canada, Europe, Morocco…), working in close collaboration with television broadcasters present on location to develop a pool of open-access images.
Each day a helicopter and 4×4 media vehicles collect images at the heart of the action. Each evening, at the bivouac, a sand-proof, air-conditioned editing room provides a protected workspace for journalists and film editors.

PHOTO PRODUCTION

A team of photographers spends long days capturing the action in pictures.
The bank of images collected is combined with a database, making it possible to respond to specific photo requests within minutes. A high-speed satellite link at the bivouac allows immediate transfer of photos for publication. A dedicated team of technicians sorts, classifies and indexes more than a thousand photos every day.

The teams’ progress can be followed live on an interactive map on the Rallye website, thanks to a satellite transmitter installed in every vehicle. Regular news bulletins are released to keep internet users up to date with the latest news.
Journalists, coordinators and technicians provide up-to-the-minute coverage of the competition.
Each day the day’s results and general standings are posted online as well as a complete summary of the day’s leg including photos and videos.
A daily newsletter is sent out to subscribers.
